Stained Glass Courses

Refreshments are provided on all courses, as are all materials and equipment. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.

Please wear closed toe shoes for safety reasons.

Unfortunately pregnant women are advised against working with stained glass as the lead can harm a developing foetus.

Our workshops take place in either Brecon or Hundred House. Both venues are spacious, allowing for social distancing and Covid safe practice. Both also have ample free parking, are completely wheelchair friendly and benefit from disabled toilet facilities. Please get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.

Please note that courses will only run with a minimum of two participants. If your booking is the only one for a date then I will contact you to arrange a date change or a full refund.

Introduction to Copper Foil Technique

This course is designed for complete beginners but can also be adapted for those who already have some experience in this field.

Made famous by Tiffany with their lampshades, the copper foil technique is particularly suited to smaller, more detailed work (eg. suncatchers) or 3D pieces. During the morning we cover the basics of how to cut and shape glass, how to apply and work with copper foil and solder, and how to design patterns for stained glass.
After learning the basics we go on to design and then create  unique individual stained glass panels to take home at the end of the day.

Introduction to Leaded Technique

Lead came has been used to create stained glass windows for centuries and the techniques and materials involved have barely changed over time. It is particularly suited to creating large panels and windows, beautiful examples of which we can see in churches and cathedrals around the world.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. During the day we cover the basics of cutting and shaping glass, designing and creating patterns for stained glass and the techniques involved in using lead came, solder and lead light cement. During the day each participant will design and make a unique piece of leaded stained glass to take away with them.
