We start the course with a general introduction to glass fusing with a bit of technical and safety information thrown in.
You’ll learn the basics of cutting and shaping glass in relation to small detailed jewellery pieces. We then go on to explore the effects of using different glasses, micas, inclusions and oxides, dichroic glass, confetti, frits and stringers. Creativity and imagination is the key.
We’ll look at different techniques for turning the cabochons you produce into pendants, earrings, brooches and other items of jewellery including working with different jewellery findings, fixings, bails and wireworks. We’ll use a combination of the microwave pot kiln and the Kilncare electric kiln. By the end of the course you’ll have produced beautiful glass jewellery pieces to wear with pride and wow your friends and family.
Snacks and refreshments are provided on this course, as are all materials and equipment. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.
