Description

We start the day with a general introduction to glass fusing with a bit of technical and safety information thrown in.

You’ll learn the basics of cutting and shaping glass for the kiln and we’ll explore various creative techniques including layering and stacking, using metal inclusions, micas, oxides, glassline pens, bubble paints, kiln papers, dichroics, confetti, frits and stringers. We’ll also experiment with kiln carving with carbon fibre board and rope to create relief.

During the course of the day, you’ll have the opportunity to create:

  • Some pieces of fused glass jewellery that you can take home on the day
  • A window hanging, tile or pair of coasters
  • A large fused and slumped dish

The larger pieces will be fired and slumped over the course of the next few days and can be picked up or delivered to you at no extra cost.

The workshops take place in either Hundred House (LD1 5RY) or Brecon town centre. Both venues benefit from ample free parking and are spacious and airy, allowing for social distancing and Covid safe practice. They are both wheelchair friendly and have disabled toilet facilities. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.

The Fused Glass day runs from 9.30am until around 4pm but we sometimes run over rather than rush the pieces.

Snacks and refreshments are provided on all courses, as are all materials and equipment. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.

Please wear closed toe shoes for safety reasons.

Please note that courses will only run with a minimum of two participants. If your booking is the only one for a date then I will contact you to arrange a date change or a full refund.
